The Challenge

Facing an outdated climate control system that no longer met their needs, the customer sought a solution to modernise their greenhouse management. Their goals were clear: adapt to existing infrastructure, gain enhanced control, and enable remote access. Additionally, they desired the ability to customise conditions and priorities for devices within the greenhouse. With such a solution, they could monitor, adjust, and optimize their greenhouse environment efficiently, ensuring optimal conditions for their crops.

The solution

  • A two-week turnaround was required between crop plantings, allowing only a small margin of time to have the greenhouse fully operational with the new systems.
  • The AgriLogiq team retrofitted new Zone Controller, power distribution board as well as internal and external weather stations.
  • The system needed to operate five banks of fans, a wet wall, ceiling fans, motorized vents, screens, and a wet wall storm curtain.
  • Additionally, for energy and humidity requirements, the banks of fans needed to be able to run in cycles rather than all coming on at once, with the ability to select a priority over humidity or temperature for their operation.
  • Similarly, the fans required a condition function before operation, to ensure the greenhouse was up to temperature before allowing them to work.
  • The system also required a storm function to protect the greenhouse, lowering the wet wall curtain and activating all the fans to hold the plastic rigid during a windstorm.
  • All these features and functions are standard on an AgriLogiq Zone Controller, making it easy to integrate and could be remotely configured by the farmer as and when needed.

Results

There was no need for the farmer to change his existing infrastructure; he could continue optimise the asset he invested in 20 years ago, passing the greenhouse down a generation. It resulted in restored consistency and accuracy (which were lost by the old system), improving control function and yield. The remote access allowed the farmer to have complete peace of mind.
