The Challenge

Our customer faced a challenge with an imported climate control system that proved overly intricate and ill-suited for the harsh African infrastructure environment. Their ongoing struggle was centred around remote fault assessment, as pinpointing issues became a cumbersome task due to time differences. Seeking a more adaptable solution, they turned their attention to AgriLogiq’s ZoneLogiq climate controller. This local innovative product not only facilitated remote access but also streamlined support processes. With the AgriLogiq system, they hoped to overcome complexities and enhance efficiency in managing their agricultural environment.

The Solution

  • The AgriLogiq team removed the old control system.
  • We integrated our new ZoneLogiq climate controller and weather stations to the existing structures on the farm.
  • We worked with the farmer to set up various strategies with conditions around sun direction, rain detection, and wind safety.
  • Our team ensured conformity with the structure requirements around safety and insurance protocols, such as ensuring the structure fully opens above 65km/h wind speeds to protect the structure.
  • Our sensing systems ensured that the retractable screens operated timeously to keep the structure cool and functional.
  • Our rain eye system ensured immediate closure at the first sign of rain, allowing continuous work.

Results

The implementation of AgriLogiq’s climate control system brought significant benefits to the farm operations. With remote access capabilities, farmers could manage and monitor from anywhere, ensuring flexibility and convenience. The system’s stability ensures reliable performance, while remote support services provide timely assistance, minimizing downtime. Overall, AgriLogiq’s system has streamlined our operations, optimizing production and overcoming challenges.

Climate control

Definition: The ability to regulate temperature, humidity and overall environmental conditions within a space.

Use case: Climate control is used to keep the environment inside a greenhouse at the optimal growing conditions for plants.

Rain eye system

Definition: Refers to an optical rain gauge that senses water on its surface to tell when it is raining. It is much more accurate and sensitive than a traditional rain bucket because it senses rain at the first drop instead of having to wait for the bucket to fill before giving a reading.

Use case: A rain eye is fitted to the external weather station so that as soon as it starts raining, the appropriate action can be taken to protect the plants.
